‘Rimon’ is named for a pomegranate orchard that once stood nearby, and it is one of the special Seven Species of Israel.

The Rimon

Historic splendour in Safed's Artists’ Quarter, just adjacent to the Hotel Rimonim.

This 400-year old home is located at the corner of Tet Vav and Tet Zion roads, next to the Hotel Rimonim. Just outside are gardens and a winding cobblestoned pathway that leads right into the heart of the picturesque Artists’ Quarter. Thanks to the Gersht family’s magic touch, this house has been returned to its original splendour – with modern additions of course! The arched door is reached via a quaint pedestrian walkway. Step down into a domed room with floor to ceiling stone, all carefully restored. It features a sofa bed with a trundle underneath that can sleep two, a wooden table with four chairs, flat screen TV with cable. Guests can enjoy free internet access.

At the end of the room, a lovely hand-carved wooden counter contains all the amenities needed to make your stay comfortable; mugs, glasses, wine glasses, plates, bowls, meat and dairy cutlery, instant coffee, a selection of teas, plus sugar. There is also a sink and large fridge/freezer with milk, two-burner electric hotplate and a kettle. For guests who observe Shabbat, there is a hotplate, urn and timers. Behind the kitchen, a large doorway framed by curtains opens up to the Serenity which can be reserved along with the Rimon. Throughout this B&B, stained glass is artfully set into arched windows and doorways. Chandeliers sparkle from above, while scented candles add a touch of romance.

An archway leads to a bedroom with two single beds. A stone nook alongside the wall is covered by pillows with hues of gold and burnished brown. A second bedroom features two single beds, beautifully nestled below a stone archway. There is a separate toilet, plus small sink outside. (Please note that the toilet must be accessed through the bedroom.) In the en suite stone bathroom, a romantic claw foot tub beckons, topped with a wooden tray laden with shampoos, candles and fluffy towels.

Additional Information: All rooms offer air conditioning plus heating and have lots of room for hanging up clothes. The Rimon sleeps six comfortably and you can request an extra bed and/or crib to sleep a maximum of seven guests. Parking is outside on Rehov Tet Zion. The shops and restaurants of the midechov are above, a five-minute walk away, while the synagogues and galleries of the Old City are below, a ten-minute walk away. Note: Larger groups or families can take both the Rimon and Serenity units. When taken together, they can accommodate up to 14 guests.
